NemcatacoaTeatro began at the end of 2000 as an expressive necessity for a group of youth focus on the training, exploration and use of stilts as instrument of the actor. Investigating diverse technics of circus, dance and theater as part of their training; since 2000Nemcatacoa had created 12 spectacles, including parades, street theater plays,street interventions and circus performances in different events searching for their own language based on physical theater and acrobatics on stilts.[/one_third]
In 2003 and 2004 the group participated in Cultura en Comun with their performances “Color games” and “Swan song”. Their active participation with the Colombian Network of Community Theater and other festivals increase their presentations trough the country. These relationships eventually put them in Cuba, Ecuador and Mexico where they present their creations and develop pedagogical activities. In 2006 as directors Nicolas Cifuentes and Freddy Torres got the grant “Beca de CreacionJovenesDirectores – Teatro de Calle” with the play “Germinares”.
In 2009 the group visits Ecuador touring with the R.I.T. (Theatrical Exchange Rout). At the end of that year the ensemble begin a sabbatical period and focus on individual process in different areas as dance, theater, music, circus and community work. In 2011 the group began to create “Landscape Re-Invention Society” and host Carpetbag Brigade from USA for an exchange laboratory. At the beginning of 2012 the XIII Iberoamerican Theater Festival of Bogota presented their new collaborative project between Carpetbag Brigade and NemcatacoaTeatro“Dios de la Adrenalina”.
